George Dorsey, founder of Edgewood, joined Merrill Lynch shortly after graduate school in 1972 and worked in the Merrill Commodities Division. In 1975, Mr. Dorsey left Merrill to join the NY commodities arm of the French group, Pechiney Ugine Kuhlmann. Thereafter, he continued a career in the commodity business, working in premiere international companies. In 2002 he moved from a role in the senior management in an International Commodities Trading company to a role as an Operating Advisor to a multi-billion-dollar Private Equity firm. In this new capacity Mr. Dorsey transformed thirty years of energy, metals, and chemical related business experience into deal flow for the Private Equity partner.
